One of the constant themes in the work of Steve Devenyns has to do with man in the elements. While people in all walks of life have to deal with the weather, out west the people just accept it as a fact of life and move on. Even when the thermometer reads -40°, cowboys don’t have a choice as to whether or not they go outside. There is a job to be done and they go do it. “Search and Rescue” portrays the coldness of winter against the warm compassion f a cowboy and the animals that depend on him. A person can almost feel the quiet determination of this cowboy on his way home.
